Blaby District Council Community Grant Scheme

Community Action Blaby District administers a grants programme on behalf of Blaby District Council.  If you are a not-for-profit community group wishing to expand or develop your services in the district, you may be able to apply for a Blaby District Council Community Grant

Over £67,000 will be awarded to community groups during the 2010/11 funding cycle to fund projects and facilities that benefit the wider community in Blaby District.  The grant programme aims to support as wide a range of community groups as possible, particularly groups that have not received funding in the past, to help with expenses such as venue or coach hire, equipment purchase, marketing and promotion, project start-up, capital expenditures and more.  Priority is given to schemes that develop new activities within their community and to groups that have not received funding in the last three years.

The grant programme has recently been simplified and two funding streams are now available:

community_grantspink1. Revenue Grants - up to £500 grants for projects or small capital purchases that benefit the community.  Grants up to £250 do not require matching funds.  Applications for more than £250 require your organisation to contribute matching funds (ie: raise at least 50% of the cost of the project from other sources).  Learn more by downloading the guidance notes and application form.

2. Capital Grants - up to £5,000 grants to provide or improve facilities for the benefit of the community.  Capital grant applications require your organisation to contribute matching funds (ie: be able to raise at least 50% of the cost of the project from other sources).  Learn more by downloading the guidance notes and application form.

We strongly encourage you to contact Community Action’s grant staff prior to completing an application.  We can provide guidance regarding eligibility and assist you with any questions you may have.  We are happy to meet with you and provide assistance with the application form if necessary.  Please note, Capital Grant applications now require a site visit prior to the application deadline.

Grants are awarded quarterly and upcoming deadlines are 28 May 2010, 27 August 2010, 26 November 2010 and 25 February 2011.
