Be a Friend in Blaby District

If you enjoy a good conversation and meeting interesting people, especially those with a good story to tell, Community Action Blaby District needs you.

Teresa Lee, Befriending Organiser said, As our population ages there are many people who find mobility more of a problem and as their families may live some distance away the biggest problem they often face is isolation and loneliness. Their domestic needs are catered for, but what they miss most of all is a good chinwag, an exchange of views and news, and some good company.

To meet this important need Community Action Blaby District is strengthening its already successful Volunteers Befriending scheme, and it needs more volunteers! All you need is a spare hour a week to visit and share your news and conversation with an elderly or housebound person who would love to see a friendly face.

It is one of the easiest things that any of us could do, male or female, that will make another person’s day and be really enjoyable into the bargain.

Providing a window on the outside world is SO important to those who can’t get out and see it for themselves and full support is provided by the Befriending Organiser, Teresa Lee.
