Our Community Transport project is for people living within the Blaby District who have difficulty using public transport or who have no access to public transport. Anyone can contact the scheme to refer a person in need who meets the above criteria or you can register yourself.

Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to transport clients to and from their destinations which can include shopping trips, lunch clubs, visits to friends, health appointments, doctors, dentists etc. but not hospital appointments. Each journey can be a single journey, a wait and return, or a journey where the driver takes the client and returns later to pick them up.

Clients pay a small charge based on the distance travelled. Bus passes or concessionary vouchers issued by Leicestershire County Council can be used.

The Community Transport project is run by Community Action Blaby District and supported by Leicestershire County Council.

Minibus shopping services

Community Action Blaby District runs minibus services for people who find it difficult to use public transport. These services are currently for people living in Leicester Forest East, Kirby Muxloe and Glenfield. The mini bus has a passenger lift for easy access and an escort is available to assist passengers.

Service 1:
Glenfield Village Centre - Fridays weekly
Calling at the Co-Op, library, doctors, dentist or other destinations along Station Road.

Service 2:
Fosse Park - Alternate Thursdays
Calling at Sainsburys, Asda or Marks and Spencers.

Minibus for hire

Community Action Blaby District operates a 16 seater minibus for the use of community groups and organisations within the Blaby District area.

The cost to hire the bus is 90 pence per mile with a minimum charge of £20 per hire.

A condition of hire of the minibus is that any one driving it must have successfully obtained the MiDAS qualification, which is the UK national standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers.
